Oktoberfest Activities Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest March & Tapping of the Keg
  • Friday, September 26 at 6:00 p.m.

Join local dignitaries in front of the Star Local Media Main Stage for the opening ceremonies. We will officially tap the first keg of Franconia, a local McKinney Brewery, by hammering the bronze spout into a more than 200-year-old keg with a wooden mallet.

Live German Entertainment 
Oktoberfest Entertainment Schedule

Traditional German entertainment is schedule on the Star Local Media Main Stage and McKinney Courier-Gazette Stage. The lineup includes headliner Brave Combo, Munich Evergreens and Alpenmusikanten plus  Alpine Dancers, Alpine Village Band, Kleine Blasmusik, S.T.V Almrausch, Texanischer Schuhplattler Verein and The Royal Klobasneks.

German Treats and Eats
One of the biggest highlights of any Oktoberfest celebration is the authentic German food. Expect to find an array of German cuisine, from many of the Downtown McKinney restaurants. You will also find German Roasted Nuts, Kettle Corn, Potato Pancakes, Brats and Sauerkraut plus much more!

Downtown McKinney Oktoberfest Specials
Many Downtown McKinney shops and restaurants are offering specials and sales to celebrate Oktoberfest. More information coming soon!
  • Oktoberfest Girls' Day or Night Out at Made of Sugar and Spice Girly Girl Parties. More information here...

Bier Barrel Races
Hosted by the McKinney Lacrosse Club, guests can put their bier barrel racing skills to the test. Come out and see who is the fastest on North Kentucky Street!
  • Friday 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday 1 to 4 p.m.

Weenie Dog Races 
Hosted by The McKinney Lions Noon Club, races will be held for Weenie dogs and "wanna-be" Weenie Dogs. Located in front of Canine Cookie Company on Louisiana St.
  • Saturday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Sunday 1 to 4 p.m.

PSA Kinder Korner Activities
At the PSA Kinder Korner, families can enjoy a variety of kids' activities. Kinder Korner closes nightly at 7 pm.

The Goddard School of McKinney Kids' Activities
The Goddard School of McKinney will host kinder activities at their booth location:
  • Pass the pumpkin with German polka music (think hot potato)
  • Pumpkin tic-tac-toe     
  • A festive fall craft

Additional Activities - Cost Varies
Petting Zoo, face painting and glitter tattoos, sand art and puppets, crystal mining, local artists and kids art and German photo opportunities.

McKinney Area Happenings
The Crate Myrtle Trails of McKinney Run the Trails 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

Myrtle Village is a fun festival area for families to enjoy before and after the race. The village consists of sponsor booths and tables intermixed with games, activity stations and concessions.
