Animal Service Facility Advisory Committee

Evaluates the animal shelter located within the city limits for compliance with state statutes.

At least four members, serve two-year terms. Members must include at least:

  • One licensed veterinarian
  • One city official
  • One person involved in the daily operation of the Animal Service Facility
  • One representative from an animal welfare organization

Board of Adjustment

Serves as an appeal body for individuals seeking variances to the zoning ordinances or to a decision made by an administrative official enforcing the ordinances. If you would like to serve on the BOA, please complete the universal application form for all McKinney Boards & Commissions.

Building & Standards Commission

Considers approval or denial of appeals of the Chief Building Official for repairs, vacations or demolitions of any building or structure or portion thereof as well as enforcement of city ordinances relating to the same.

Considers approval, denial and/or appeals of the Chief Building Official and Fire Chief’s interpretations of the Model Building Codes.

Reviews and makes recommendations on new Model Building Code updates, as required.

Collin Central Appraisal District (CCAD) Board of Directors 

The CCAD Board of Directors governs the Collin Central Appraisal District. 

Members

The taxing entities that vote on the appraisal district’s budget (county, city, school and special districts) select the members of the board of directors. Nominations are submitted in odd-numbered years.

Community Grants Advisory Commission

Considers funding requests for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the city’s Community Support Grant programs, reviews CDBG performance, and advises City Council on CDBG and support grant activities.

Historic Preservation Advisory Board

Assists in the preservation of historic McKinney through programs and projects that increase public awareness of the value of historic, cultural and architectural preservation.

Library Advisory Board

Advises the City Council on matters relating to Library Services. Reviews library performance and advises library staff on the development of library policy.

McKinney Armed Services Memorial Board

Conducts the city’s annual Veterans Day and Memorial Day ceremonies, raises funds for special projects and qualifies veterans’ names nominated for inclusion on the memorial’s wall of honor.

McKinney Arts Commission

Serves as an advisory board to City Council to make recommendations concerning the resources and needs of the community on the subject of the arts, including strategies to encourage community involvement in the arts.

Formerly McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau - MCVB. Responsible for establishing the operating policies for Visit McKinney and for evaluating the progress of Visit McKinney in the attainment of goals.

McKinney Main Street Board

McKinney Main Street’s vision is to see the continued growth of McKinney’s vibrant downtown area through economic development, increased promotion, enhanced tourism, infrastructure redevelopment, historical preservation efforts and an increased awareness of McKinney’s history.

  • Interviews are in July and August and are public.
  • Appointments are made in August and September.
  • The term begins October 1 for all new and reappointed members.
  • You need to be a McKinney resident unless the ordinance or law creating the board or commission states otherwise.
  • You need to be willing to attend regularly scheduled meetings.
  • You must be a registered voter with your current residence address submitted on the application.
