The Neighborhood Police Officer (NPO) Unit designates geographic areas or neighborhoods where police officers concentrate their efforts in accordance with the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing and Problem Oriented Policing.
The NPO Unit works with Crime Watch groups, apartment managers, HOAs and other community groups to identify specific crime trends within their assigned area, formulate a strategy for addressing the offenses then coordinate and participate in the solution. NPOs identify and respond to specific problems within the neighborhood, including repeat call locations, ongoing neighborhood disturbances and deteriorating conditions that contribute to the overall decline of the neighborhood.
