Larry, Steve & Rudy: The Gatlin Brothers July 6
It’s worth “All the Gold in California” to have these Grammy Award-winning brothers on the Courtroom Theater stage! Larry, Steve, and Rudy have been singing together for more than 60 years, wowing audiences worldwide and racking up an impressive count of seven number-one singles, 32 Top 40 records, 22 studio albums and five BMI “Million-Air” awards. As one of BMI’s top solo songwriters of all time, Larry is ranked 4th on the list of those with the most self-penned Top 40 Billboard Hits, hits recorded by legendary artists Barbra Streisand, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and Elvis Presley, just to name a few.
Performing as Elvis Presley since 1996, Kraig Parker has carefully honed the King’s moves, voice, and very likeness over the ensuing years to bring the ultimate image of Elvis Presley to life. Backed by The Royal Tribute Band, a full Las Vegas-style show band complete with backup singers, you’ll be dancing on the edge of your seat until the scarves start flying.
Brothers Glenn and Alex Peterson were just twelve and ten years old, respectively, when a box of old records purchased at a garage sale changed the course of their young lives. The boys purposely chose records they’d never heard - The Isley Brothers and Brothers Johnson, for the obvious “brothers” connection and then, by sheer chance, out came B.B. King and Earth, Wind and Fire. Fast forward ten years and you can hear their never-the-same-way-twice, signature funk-laced style of blues and soul at some of the most respected venues in Austin and opening for the likes of Willie Nelson, Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Texas’ own Gary Clark Jr. Their self-titled first album was recorded live in 2015 at the Continental Club in Austin where they have a weekly residency.
An Austin-based trio – violin, guitar, and upright bass – that seamlessly melds the worlds of Western swing and gypsy jazz, Hot Club of Cowtown has a global reputation for unforgettable live shows. While comparisons to groups like Asleep at the Wheel, Steep Canyon Rangers and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy are inevitable, the individual and collective talents of Elana James, Whit Smith and Jake Erwin were hailed by the Nashville Tennessean as “…one of the most original groups on the Americana circuit.”
