This annual one-day event is a requirement under Federal Law. It is an unduplicated count of people experiencing homelessness in counties across the country during the last week in January. The count provides a snapshot of our homeless population, both sheltered and unsheltered, on a single night to help determine a greater understanding and most importantly - data - to plan local homeless assistance systems, public services, and public awareness of the growing impact of homelessness.
The PIT Count helps answer commonly asked questions such as:
How many people are currently homeless in the City of McKinney?
How many of them are families, youth, or veterans?
Volunteers Needed for 2020 PIT Count
We need 80 volunteers to help complete the count. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
