Once Upon A Summer - 2022 Summer Reading Program

  • Our Summer Reading Program is for both children and adults. For activity challenges and to track your reading online, visit or download the Beanstack Tracker app. 
  • Online registration begins June 4. The final day to log minutes is August 6.
  • Once Upon a Summer includes 7 special family come-and-go events for all ages. Find these as well as all other summer events and programs in our Summer 2022 Program Guide.
  • All participants completing the 2022 Summer Reading Program receive a certificate of completion.

Beanstack Reading Challenges

  • This year we’ve set up many new summer reading activities. Check out our Beanstack Reading Challenges
  • The summer program involves various reading goals and challenges, depending on the age on the age level of the participants. For instance, children read in minutes, adults in number of books.

What is Beanstack?

  • Beanstack is a digital reading resource for tracking your personal reading goals all year.
  • Registration is free. No library card is needed.
  • Create a Beanstack account for yourself or your family. You can set up as many profiles as you like, for readers of any age. Search for "McKinney" to finish signing on.
  • If you signed up for Beanstack in previous years, your account is still active.
  • You earn badges for reading milestones. You can also write reviews, consult your reading log, maintain a wish list, get personalized book recommendations, and invite friends to join you.
  • Recording your reading can be as easy as using the Beanstack mobile app on your phone to scan the bar code on the back of any book.  You can also enter the number of pages, minutes, or hours that you’ve read.
  • Get the Beanstack Tracker App:
