McKinney walking tours give residents and visitors a small look into the history that shaped our city. We hope you enjoy your walks, take your time and think about what life was like a hundred years ago.
The Residential Walking Tour with its interactive and PDF maps, is a small sampling of our history told through the varied architectural styles of our preserved historic homes. You can walk along beautiful tree-lined streets and see the homes of early entrepreneurs who influenced McKinney’s early history.
View the interactive map and read about the rich history behind historic downtown buildings. The buildings now house restaurants, shops and modern businesses, but once they were home to movie theaters, a jail, a newspaper office and an opera house.
The Downtown Walking Tour PDF map shows you parts of the square that you would not normally experience. You will have adventures like walking past the site of the last legal hanging in Collin County.
