The City of McKinney is conducting a historic resources survey to re-evaluate and update previous surveys and evaluate previously undocumented historic resources. The survey includes McKinney's Historic Overlay District and Historically Significant Area.
Community engagement is a critical component of the historic resource survey process. We are still accepting contributions from the community. If you have information about historic properties or neighborhoods in McKinney, we would love to hear from you!
The project team has completed all field work within the Historic Overlay District and the Historically Significant Area. The team is now preparing a comprehensive Historic Resources Survey Report that details the survey results, evaluates resources and potential districts for eligibility for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, and makes preservation recommendations for consideration by the City of McKinney. The report will be made available for public review and input in early 2024.
The project team participated in both the McKinney Oktoberfest on September 22 and the Legacy Neighborhoods Fall Festival on October 7 to promote the project and encourage feedback from the community and stakeholders.
