This week, the McKinney Senior Recreation Center donated a piano, covered in the handprints of senior center members, to Historic Downtown McKinney to be placed on the square as McKinney's first public piano. The message “play me” is displayed inviting visitors to create a melody.
The City of McKinney historic downtown recently earned the prestigious Cultural District Designation from the Texas Commission on the Arts for demonstrating the area’s art, events, activities and amenities that play a pivotal role in setting the downtown apart as a gathering place for commerce, companionship and culture.
The cultural district is the perfect home for the donated piano to be enjoyed by the community and visitors to share music together. It is located outside of the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee St., and is open for anyone to come up and play.
