Unofficial results for the McKinney Special Election

Residents elected Patrick Cloutier to the open At-Large City Council seat

McKINNEY, Texas (Jan. 15, 2022) – Today McKinney residents elected Patrick Cloutier to the At-Large City Council seat vacated when Council Member Frederick Frazier announced his candidacy to run for a state House Representative seat. A candidate must receive a majority of votes in the election to be elected to City Council, or more than 50 percent of the total vote. All results are unofficial and courtesy of the Collin County Election Administrator. 

According to the unofficial results, Cloutier won the At Large seat, earning 2,475 votes, or 58.82 percent of the total. Cloutier defeated Vicente Torres, who earned 1,393 votes or 33.1 percent of the total, and John Booher, who earned 340 votes or 8.08 percent of the total. 

The City of McKinney will canvass the Official Election Results tentatively on Jan. 18, after the Collin County Elections Department has certified the final votes. For more information on the accumulated total votes, visit the Collin County Election Results page.
