City of McKinney set to spray two areas for mosquitoes

McKINNEY, Texas (Oct. 10, 2023) – The City of McKinney is set to spray two areas of the city to control mosquitoes after mosquito pools tested positive for West Nile Virus. Signs will be posted at major intersections to notify residents of spraying activity, and information and a map of the spray areas are posted on the city’s website at McKinneyTexas.org/MosquitoControl.

Weather permitting, the first spraying will start at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The spray area is generally east of Wiregrass Drive, west of Meadow Ranch Road, south of Bloomdale Road, and north of Scenic Hills Drive.

The second spraying will start at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12. The spray area is generally east of S.H. 5, west of Allen Drive, south of County Road 278, and north of Bird Court.

Residents in the spray areas are advised to stay indoors during the spray period and should bring their pets inside that evening. Residents who do not want to spray near their home should contact City of McKinney Health Compliance at 972-547-7447.
