Ring in the Winter Cheer at ‘Home for the Holidays… A McKinney Christmas’ in Downtown McKinney

Downtown McKinney will transform into a winter wonderland full of local artists, specialty items, delicious food, live entertainment, and holiday activities

McKINNEY, Texas (Nov. 1, 2023) – Savor the magic of the holiday season as Downtown McKinney presents the 42nd annual ‘Home for the Holidays… A McKinney Christmas’ celebration. From Nov. 24-26, this beloved event will transform the heart of McKinney into a winter wonderland, offering a small-town feel with a big holiday spirit. 

With the city’s 165-year-old commercial historic downtown as the backdrop, ‘Home for the Holidays… A McKinney Christmas’ promises an unforgettable experience for families, friends, and visitors from near and far. The 14-block area will be brimming with festive activities, delectable food, and entertainment for the entire family.

“‘Home for the Holidays… A McKinney Christmas’ is a cherished tradition that brings our community together and showcases the unique charm of our city. We hope everyone will come to our wonderful city to experience the magic and create lasting memories with those they love,” said Mayor George Fuller.

Featured Activities at Home for the Holidays

Official Tree Lighting Ceremony  

Kick off the holiday season at the Tree Lighting Ceremony happening Friday, Nov. 24, at 6:15 p.m. on the Downtown McKinney square. Tomes Auto Group sponsors the McKinney Community Christmas Tree with support from individuals across the community.

Visits with Santa 

Ho ho ho! Santa will be on the square to hear what the little ones have on their wish list. Capture the moment with a photo you will cherish for years to come. Reservations are not required. 

Live Holiday Entertainment

The McKinney stage is filled with three days of live holiday entertainment, including Mosaix playing Friday, Nov. 24, after the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Keep your eyes open for popular holiday characters strolling throughout Downtown McKinney.  

Family-Friendly Attractions    

Take a fun-filled ride on a Ferris wheel, carousel, snow hill, Frosty's train, and many other exciting attractions. Visitors also love the petting zoo, rock climbing wall, and Candyland. 

Support Local Businesses 

Over 150 local stores offer a premium destination for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday shopping, with extended festival hours.
