McKinney National Airport looks ahead to a busy year in 2024

McKINNEY, Texas (Jan. 29, 2024) – The McKinney National Airport is pleased to announce its slate of upcoming development projects that will continue to establish the airport as a premier destination for pilots, corporate fleets, and business travelers. The airport has been working diligently to identify and prioritize projects that will benefit its customers and the community, and these initiatives are a testament to its commitment to progress.

"We are thrilled to witness the rapid growth of McKinney National Airport in recent years, and we are excited about our future of air travel and development in the region. As we continue to expand and improve our facilities and services and shift our focus to development on the east side of the airport, we are confident our airport will bring significant economic benefits, including increased job opportunities, new businesses, and enhanced quality of life for our community," said Ken Carley, Director of McKinney National Airport.

Significant developments slated for 2024:

Hangar construction

Construction will begin on the new 40,000-square-foot corporate hangar 10 in early spring.  Additional corporate hangars will begin construction for major corporations with fleets based at the airport.

Phase 2 runway extension

A 500-foot extension to the northern portion of the runway and Taxiway B will begin construction in 2024. The extension improves safety, enhances operations for current tenants, and will attract more operators to the area.

Texas Department of Public Safety groundbreaking

Taxiway A reconstruction

Construction will begin this summer to expand the aircraft apron and maintain the quality of the pavement of Taxiway A.

A taxiway connector construction project will enable the development of about 11 acres on the airport's west side for aeronautical use.
