What do I do about noisy neighbors or too loud music?: Call the Police Department at 972-547-2700 and give them the address to where the noise is coming from. You can remain anonymous if you desire. If the noise is threatening or indicates violence, call 911.

1. How do I get a copy of my criminal record?: You may request a criminal history record check through the Texas Department of Public Safety.

2. How do I get a copy of a Police report?: You will need to submit an Open Records Request. The form can be submitted in person, via the website, via e-mail, or fax. Visit the MPD Records and Reports page for forms and fee information.

3. How do I request a background check?: The McKinney Police Department does provide background check services. A request can be made in person at the McKinney Police Department. You will need your current driver's license or ID card.

4. When is the Police Records Section open?: Access to the Police Records Section is through the main lobby, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

5. How do I inquire about a traffic citation?: The Municipal Court can answer most questions surrounding a traffic citation. They can be reached at (972) 547-7676.

6. When is it legal to operate a lawn mower or other power equipment?: Lawn mowers or other power equipment may be operated within the City of McKinney from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. This excludes construction equipment, which can be operated between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. See specific ordinances for details.

10. Open Carry Texas: The Open Carry law allows a license holder to "open carry" a holstered handgun or firearm, though gun laws are complex. We encourage residents to determine whether gun laws allow a person to openly carry a firearm at a particular location.
