What is wastewater?
Wastewater (sewer) is the used water that goes down the drains. The wastewater portion of your water bill pays the costs associated with transporting and cleaning the wastewater. The City of McKinney conveys all the wastewater from homes and business through wastewater pipes to North Texas Municipal Water District where it is treated. The treated wastewater, known as effluent, is then released into local waterways where it is used again to supply drinking water, irrigate golf courses, and sustain aquatic life.
