How can I renew my items?
Library materials check out for three weeks and are set to automatically renew up to three times unless they are put on hold by another patron. To see the renewal status of your item, log onto the
library catalog
and click on “Checked Out" under "Account Summary.” Interlibrary Loans (ILLs), Hot off the Press materials, and items on hold for another patron cannot be renewed.
Note: If your library account is locked due to overdue items, your materials cannot be renewed until the overdue items are returned.

How can I renew my items?
Library materials check out for three weeks and are set to automatically renew up to three times unless they are put on hold by another patron. To see the renewal status of your item, log onto the

How do I put a hold on an item?
To place a hold on an item in the
library catalog
, first login to your account using your library card number and password. (Forgot your password? Call us for assistance at 972-547-7323).
Once logged in, type the title or author of the item you wish to place on hold and click “Go.” Once you locate the item in the search results, click on the button below the item that says “Place hold.” Ensure your pickup location is correct and click “Confirm Hold.”

What is my password/pin number?
The default password/pin number for your library account will either be the year you were born or the last 4 digits of your library card number.

How can I access my reading history?
First,
log into your library account
through the library’s catalog. Your list of items checked out to your account is under “Your Reading History.”
Under "My Account" on the left navigation, choose "Reading History." You'll see a list of all titles you've checked out. You'll also have an option to delete all the titles on the list or to stop recording your reading history in the future. If you do choose to stop recording, the page will refresh with a link to restart it if you do wish to resume it in the future.

How can I suggest a book, eBook, DVD or other material for the library to purchase?
Purchase suggestions are only available to McKinney residents with a library card in good standing.
Log into your library account
through the library’s catalog.
Under My Account on the left navigation, select “Purchase Suggestions.”
Click “Submit a New Purchase Suggestion Request.”
Fill out the form and submit. Title and item type (book, DVD, etc.) are required, but any other information you can provide will be useful.
The Library is no longer acquiring audiobooks on CD. Instead we invite you to check out downloadable audiobooks on our
cloudLibrary
platform. Suggestions for eBook and eAudiobook purchases can be made through the cloudLibrary site.

Library staff will consider all purchase suggestions based on our selection criteria to determine if the library is able to add the item to the collection. You will be notified whether your suggestion has been accepted.
